Footloose stands up over time with its music and dancing. The smaller roles, Sarah Jessica P, Sean Penn's little bro, Chris, the actress opposite Bacon, who went on to become a world-renowned cellist, all fabulous to see. But Lithgow could give you a festival on his own. I've been rewatching "The Crown", where he storms his way through Season 1 as Churchill. Compare that to his just-crawled-out-from-under-a-rock portrayal of Debra Winger's sidepiece in "Terms of Endearment."
Oh wow, I was gong to mention SJP, but I didn't notice Chris Penn! The only problem with LithgowFest is that I wonder if we'd end up with "too good" a slate of films, rather than the schlocky fun we like to have with these fests. That's kind of what happened with FondaFest--once we got past "Cat Ballou" and "Barbarella", it was mostly just really good movies. Which is lovely, but not in keeping with Fest tradition!
